At the beginning of 2010, I decided that I want to run at least one race per month this year.  So far, so good!

Susan G. Komen’s Race for the Cure
Location: Virginia Beach, VA
Distance: 5k
Time: 27 minutes 49 seconds
This course was completely flat which probably is part of the reason my time was so much better after only a week.  Ran this one with my mom and boyfriend at the time.

It was FREEZING that day and I had a major debate with myself about whether or not I should wear my jacket.  I decided not to which was perfect because I ended up getting too hot without it!

My first race:

October 10, 2009
Hog Jog
Location: Smithfield, VA
Distance: 5k
Time: 30 minutes 35 seconds
Came in 8th place for women’s 15-19
Overall, I was extremely happy with my time.  My dad and I practiced the course a couple days before the race & my time was 33 minutes (I don’t remember the seconds) which means that the race time was a total improvement!  Before it started I was terrified because the practice run was so hard I felt like crying but I felt amazing during the race!  I almost ran over a little kid at the water station (oops!) but it wasn’t really completely my fault since he stopped right in front of me!

    I’m Melinda’s aunt – not sure if you remember me? I have too become to love to run – I just signed up to run the Nashville, TN Music 1/2 marathon. Last year I ran 2 1/2 marathon’s and a handful of 5K, 10K, and benefit runs. I’ll be coming to VA on weekend o 3/26. I was going to run in the VA beach 1/2 but they were filled up (on the weekend before) i’ll be training for the 1/2 so if you’d like to get together and run with me when I come up to visit it would be great! LOVE your site. I too have a zillion healhty meals – loved to share a few with you.

    • Hey Jeanne! Melinda told me that you run a lot. I’d love to meet up with you for a run while you’re in town! I’m running a 10k in Richmond the weekend that you’ll be in town (the race is march 27th). I’m still working on getting healthier when it comes to eating.   3. We were both at the Susan G. Komen race in VB!! I’m shooting for the Shamrock 8K on March 20th and the Wicked 10k on Halloween.

    • I’m doing the monument 10k in Richmond on March 27th and then the Yorktown 8 miler on April 3rd (exactly a week apart!) which is why I didn’t even think about the Shamrock! Maybe next year 🙂 I did read about the Wicked 10k though! That one sounds like a lot of fun. Looks like I may have to look into it more!

  4. I recently ran my first half marathon, in my second half marathon i dropped 4 minutes off of my time with hills 🙂 I run xc and track at my school, and i recently injured my leg, so i cant run.:( normally i cant go a day with out running. check my blog out!
